Downgrade Xcode, or any Apple developer tool, to a previous version

If you are in the same boat as me and need to downgrade an Apple developer tool, such as Xcode, to a previous version then follow these simple steps:

  1. Use your favorite application uninstall program, mine is AppCleaner, or navigate to the “Applications” folder and delete the Apple developer tool that you want to downgrade.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. Navigate to the Apple developer downloads section (you will need a valid Apple developer account) and download the corresponding Apple developer tool with the version of your choice.
  4. Install the Apple developer tool.

Hope that saves you the headache of searching around, happy developing!
